Please note, MUN Bilbao is only open to schools, and not universities.

Whilst preparing for the conference, Advisors need to bear in mind the following:

Monday, 29th May 2017: Registration for Delegations opens on a first come, first served basis. Registration for Chairs also opens, but applications are taken under consideration so it is not necessarily first come, first served. Registration will close once all places have been filled or on Friday 29th December 2017, whichever is earlier.

After having your registration accepted, registration fees for yourself and your delegates should be paid by bank transfer. The bank account details are:

If you need to book flights, this should be done as soon as possible after paying the registration fees. Please inform us if you need any assistance with airport transfers. There is more information at the bottom of this section on how to get to Colegio Ayalde.

If you wish to stay in the accomodation organised by MUN Bilbao, you have the following two options available:

Option 1

Hotel Seminario Bilbao 

This 3* hotel is situated in Derio, 5 minutes from the airport and Colegio Ayalde and 10kms from the center of Bilbao. The hotel is providing us with a selection of types of rooms at very reasonable prices.

There are 40 twin rooms (2 single beds) for €70/night/room

There are 16 double rooms (double bed) for €61/night/room

There are 15 triple rooms (3 single beds) for €90/night/room

There are 4 apartments (4 single beds and a kitchen) for €140/night/apartment

All prices include taxes, breakfast, free wifi and free parking and will be maintained for the two days before and the two days after the conference if you wish to stay longer than the three nights of the conference. We do ask that advisors reserving rooms for their individual use book the double rooms to allow maximum capacity for the delegates.

A 25% deposit needs to be paid at the time of the confirmation of the booking and the rest before arrival.  If at a later date a room needs to be cancelled, the hotel will refund the amount without any charge. However, if a whole group cancels, we cannot guarantee a full refund. 

The hotel does have a bar which serves snacks until 11pm and a restaurant. Public transport into Bilbao is available within a 7-minute walk of the hotel. All transfers between the conference and the hotel will be taken care of by ourselves. If you require airport transfers, please let us know and we can arrange this at an additional cost.

Option 2

Holiday Inn Express

This hotel is situated in Derio right by the airport and 5 minutes drive from Colegio Ayalde and 10kms from the center of Bilbao.

The hotel is providing us with a selection of types of rooms at very reasonable prices.

There are 51 double rooms (double bed) for €68/night/room

There are 5 triple rooms (3 single beds) for €93/night/room

All prices include taxes, breakfast, free wifi, free parking, free airport transfers and prices will be maintained if you wish to stay longer than the three nights of the conference. We do ask that advisors reserving rooms for their individual use book the rooms with double beds to allow maximum capacity for the delegates.

The hotel has a bar and a restaurant. Public transport into Bilbao is available from the airport. All transfers between the conference and the hotel will be taken care of by ourselves.

Non-Conference Organised Accomodation

Alberque Manarikua Derio

This hostel is situated in Derio in the same building as the Hotel Seminario, 5 minutes from the airport and Colegio Ayalde and 10kms from the center of Bilbao. 

The price for groups of 20 people or more is €20/night/person. This include taxes, breakfast, free wifi and free parking.

There are shared bathroom facilities with bathrooms for girls and bathrooms for boys. The hostel also offers free use of a kitchen, laundry facilities, tv rooms, a study room, a dining room and vending machines.

Public transport into Bilbao is available within a 7-minute walk of the hostel. All transfers between the conference and the hostel will be taken care of by ourselves. If you require airport transfers, please let us know and we can arrange this at an additional cost.

When choosing accommodation, please note that Saturday night's social event takes place in the Hotel Seminario

 

Ensure your delegates are researching their member country and topics as fully as possible. Research should be followed by the writing of resolutions. Delegates must follow the rules on how to write a resolution in order to avoid their resolutions being rejected by the Approval Panel. Please ensure the delegates bring with them to the conference paper copies and an electronic version of their resolution(s).

Each delegate also needs to prepare a Policy Statement to present in their committee. A successful Policy Statement is one that is not just read out, but has been learnt by the delegate so that they can deliver it more naturally. The same applies to the Ambassador’s speech.

Each delegation needs to prepare stationary that they can use to pass notes to other delegates during committee sessions and the general assemblies. Please ensure each delegate brings sufficient copies of the stationary with them to the conference (approx. 20).

Delegates are welcome to bring electronic devices such as laptops and iPads to the conference to use to prepare speeches and to merge resolutions. However, the use of mobile phones in committees and the general assemblies is not permitted.

Please ensure your delegates know the dress code is formal, business wear. Clothes such as jeans and t-shirts are unacceptable. Skirts should be just above the knee or longer and no low-cut tops.

GETTING TO BILBAO

Bilbao is on the northern coast of Spain, about four hours drive from Madrid. Airlines that fly into Bilbao include AER Lingus, Air Europe, Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Czech Airlines, Easyjet, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines and Vueling.

The airport is five minutes drive from Colegio Ayalde and 20 minutes drive from the center of Bilbao.

There is a public bus, the Bizkaibus line A3247, that travels between the center of Bilbao and the airport. A single journey costs €1.45 and tickets can be bought from the bus driver.

This bus leaves Bilbao starting at the bus station (stands 22-29), stops at Gran Via 79 (outside Viajes Ecudor), Plaza Moyua (outside Hacienda) and Alameda Recalde 11 before arriving at Departures at the Airport. The bus runs every 30 minutes starting at 5.25am until 21.55pm.

This bus leaves the airport outside Arrivals and travels into Bilbao, making the same stops as above.  It runs from 6.15am to 23.15pm, with one last bus at midnight.
